MORE CANINE COMMUNICATION
How does your pet communicate with you?
Chamonix and Jaspaar share their tips for "Effective Communication With Your Human".

Preparation
From Chamonix: First of all, be patient...after all, they ARE only human!
From Jaspaar: Give 'em treats..lots of kisses and let them play with your toys too...that gets their attention!

Basic Communication

  • the 'paw' thing - (pawing at the air) follow me!
  • sitting up - I'm cute, give me a treat!
  • rolling over - I'm beyond cute - give me TWO treats!
  • soft whining - I need attention
  • soft whining with increasing volume - now would be good!
  • very audible whining - Let me out or the carpet gets it!
  • tail wagging near the door - walkies...let's GO!!
  • dragging out every toy I own and tossing 'em at you - playtime!
  • laying on my back and waving my paws in the air - tummy rubs!
  • knocking my dish into the kitchen cabinets - little hungry here!
  • nosing all the couch pillows onto the floor - ahhhh, nap time!
  • hand nudging - Mo-o-o-o-ommmmm come look at what Jaspaar's doing!
  • nosing everything out of my toy basket and then walking away - new toy time!
  • staring intently at you while you eat - feed me too!!
  • running in circle when we hear the car keys - car rides!!
  • running around you in circles when you head for the door - take me, take me, take me!
  • stretching and audible sighing - enough of the computer already, let's play!
  • barking wildly in the yard - Birds in the 'no fly' zone!
  • tail wags and kisses - we love our family!!
That should get you started, don't try to teach them too much at once...a little at a time should do it. Be sure and send your Human training tips to us too so we can post them in a 'future forum'.
